IT&E launches managed WiFi service
IT&E has launched managed WiFi services after completing its most recent installation the week of Jan. 14 and offers managed WiFi services to three hotels in Guam and the CNMI – Guam Plaza Resort & Spa, Kanoa Resort Saipan, and Aqua Resort Club Saipan.
IT&E now offers a complete, end-to-end carrier-grade WiFi service for businesses that is managed 24/7. Hotel guests will have access to fast, reliable, and secure WiFi throughout the hotel property and in their rooms so they can share their adventure and stay connected to what matters most to them.
“Today, the availability of WiFi in a hotel or business can affect a customer’s impression of their experience. Our Managed WiFi services meets these needs by providing our clients with a WiFi solution tailored specifically to their business. In addition, we have several new technology solutions we’re excited to launch that will offer more convenience, connectivity, and value to businesses and organizations. Our network is the widest in the Marianas and Guam and is typhoon-proven, ensuring secure and seamless connections.”
Jim Oehlerking, CEO of IT&E
“With the demand for WiFi anywhere, anytime at an all-time high and as technology continues to constantly change, more and more businesses globally are moving away from the buy and build model. Instead, they rely on providers like IT&E to use their technical expertise to build the infrastructure and manage the day-to-day tasks of keeping the WiFi running for them. Businesses are able to reduce costs and focus resources on key priorities,” said Mark Badal, chief information officer of IT&E.
“With IT&E’s managed WiFi services we’re able to enhance the experience for our guests at Guam Plaza Resort & Spa. Guests enjoy a seamless and fast connection everywhere on our property, including our shops, eateries, banquet halls, spa, and in the 505 guest rooms. Good WiFi is a modern convenience travelers expect today, and we’re happy that we’re able to meet that expectation with a quality and secure solution provided by IT&E,” said Sudipta Basu, general manager of Guam Plaza Resort & Spa.
Managed WiFi is also ideal for retail settings and educational institutions. Experts in the telecommunications industry in the region have taken notice of IT&E’s WiFi deployment in Guam and the CNMI. Mark Badal, IT&E’s CIO, was invited to speak at the Wireless Broadband Alliance Asia Telecom Summit on January 29 in Hong Kong.
The Wireless Broadband Alliance is an industry association formed to promote collaboration between operators in the WiFi industry. The Alliance is made up of operators and technology providers, including AT&T, SK Telecom, Cisco, China Telecom, ComCast, Intel, TMobile, Google, Nokia, Microsoft, Panasonic, Huawei, and more.
“It’s fantastic to see IT&E developing a WiFi/5G convergence strategy and adopt the Next Gen Hotspot (NGH) /Passpoint TM to make their WiFi network seamless, secure and interoperable. WBA is looking forward to work closely with IT&E on driving NGH/Passpoint TM Wi-Fi services adoption,” said Tiago Rodrigues, general manager of the Wireless Broadband Alliance.
NGH/Passpoint technology allows users to connect easily without logging in multiple times to enjoy a seamless, automatic WiFi connection.
Badal discussed WiFi and 5G deployments and convergence in Guam and the CNMI.
